Don’t be jealous | famous short stories

A farmer lived in a village. He owned a dog in his house and a donkey to carry the pack. A servant was looking after the donkey. He worked as a servant for a farmer.

The farmer had a lot of love for his dog. Because, it has twice caught thieves and handed them over to him. When the farmer goes out and comes home, the dog wags its tail to show its gratitude.

When he sits it goes straight and lies on his lap. It licks his face passionately. The farmer treated it very kindly, giving it meat scraps and high quality food.

The donkey growing in the farmer’s house was jealous that only the farmer gave so many privileges to the dog. The donkey thought that it should get all the benefits that the farmer gives to the dog.

The donkey decided to behave like the dog, so it planned to lie on the farmer’s lap one day and lick his face. The dog understood the thought of the donkey, It looked at the donkey and advised, “My friend, don’t be jealous of the privileges I get. If you do as I do, the farmer will not tolerate it. He will beat you severely and drive you out of the house.”

Donkey didn’t listen to the words of the dog. It looked at the dog and said, “My friend, see what is happening. See how the farmer is going to be happy with my action.”

After that the dog said nothing. That day, the farmer was sitting at home wearing a white shirt and a white jacket, reading a book.  Immediately the donkey quickly ran and sat on his lap.

It licked his face with its tongue. Then it shouted loudly. The farmer got very angry. He took the nearby rolling stick and beat the donkey well. Unable to bear the pain, the donkey ran screaming into the forest.

Moral : We should not be jealous of the privileges others get. Jealousy can destroy us.
