Don’t be arrogant | best short stories

We all know that Alexander the Great is world famous. An event that happened in his life shows ‘don’t be arrogant’.

When Alexander left Greece, his friends asked him, “If you go to India, please bring a monk from there to Greece on your return.”  Alexander, who came to India, remembered it and set out one day in search of a monk.

As Alexander passed through a village, the villagers said that there was a monk by the river bank. “Go and bring me that monk,” said Alexander. The villagers laughed at him.

Alexander did not understand anything. They said, “monks do not come wherever they are called.” Angered by this, Alexander drew his robe and set out for the bank of the river where the monk was meditating.

The monk was in deep meditation, not knowing Alexander’s arrival. Alexander looked at the monk and said, “I am Alexander, the world-renowned knight. Don’t you think you should pay respect to me?” he said.

The monk slowly opened his eyes and looked at Alexander and said, “No great man tries to prove his great humanity. If they do, it is a sign that they aren’t great.”

Alexander was furious. He looked at the monk and said, I order you to follow me. “The monk was not angry at all but in a polite manner he said, “Who are you to give me orders? Monks like us do not obey anyone’s orders. We obey only God. We have no authority to give orders to anyone except God.”

Immediately Alexander angrily looked at the monk and said, “If you refuse to come with me, I will cut off your head.”

Immediately the monk said, “Fool, you are playing with your arrogance to me. You are threatening me by thinking that my body belongs to me, and your arrogance will destroy you. So leave it and monks like me will not fear anything.”

So look at the good deeds that should be done by leaving the arrogance from you.

Immediately Alexander, overcame with arrogance, laid his sword at the monk’s feet and bowed down.

Moral: Man should not be arrogant. It will destroy him. So leave the arrogance and walk in a good way.
